Reading about travelling

Chloe wanted to know if she was going to travel in the next few months.
So we established a time frame for the reading and phrased the question as such :
“Will Chloe travel overseas in the next 10 months ?”
the layout used : The horseshoe spread :
the past : the Hierophant Reversed
the present : the 9 of Wands
the next future : the 2 of Cups
the surrounding energy : the Ace of Swords Reversed
the attitude : the 7 of Cups
the outcome : the 3 of Cups Reversed
the answer : the World Reversed

The Hierophant Reversed : the search for a new path, new ideas and possibilities. Indeed, the travel was done with such spirit in mind. It represents something unconventional. At present, the 9 of Wands, shows Chloe re-examinating her options. She is weighing up what she gained from her past travel and what she might have lost as well in the process. Matter of factly, she realizes how financially her finances have been affected and hesitates whether it is a possibility for her to travel abroad, as much as she hopes for it.

The next future shows the 2 of cups : she is single right now. Could it mean a new friend, a new attration in her life ? At this point, the connection to the question asked is not quite clear to me. Still, it is a positive card, but not related to the idea of traveling.

The attitude : the 7 of cups shows her hesitations. Should I pick this cup, should I pick the other one ? Exactly her state of mind : will I have enough money, will I spend it or keep it, what is wiser, where do I go, east coast or west coast ? All of these thoughts are scattered.

The energy around the question : the ace of swords reversed : upright this ace is a fresh ideas, here it might be the idea of the travel which doesn’t leave her mind, it keeps bugging her. Poor planning also. And it could result into failure. She can expect delays if she doesn’t commit to that project in a more realistic way, with better planning. Time for her maybe to re-think her plans.

The outcome is the 3 of cups reversed : her actions may be influenced by someone, a relative, a close friend. Upright it is the party card, meaning maybe that the travel she first saw as some sort of celebration or fun time just won’t happen in the next 10 months as she hoped.

The Answer with the World reversed tends to go in that direction as well. If there is a travel overseas, according to me it won’t be in the next 10 months, there will be some delays.

As a conclusion, I’d advise her to be a little bit more realistic and prepare that trip into details. At present, It seems a little bit like daydreaming to me. Nothing wrong, she should just check details, and take a little bit more time before going abroad on holiday. The next 10 months, I don’t see her going overseas , but the 2 of cups hints there might be something very enjoyable ahead.

feel free to comment, this reading was done end of January , so the feedback is still pending :) Any input is appreciated, cheers

Meaning of the cards

Before reading the signification of a card in a book, it is always interesting to note what you think of a card before reading about it.

What I used to do when I first started with Tarot was to shuffle the cards, and then pick them up one by one, and as soon as I would flip them over, say the first thing that would come to mind when I would see the image.

You will notice that for the same card, depending on your mood, the keyword may slightly vary …
One day you will say “Commitment” and the very next “sharing”, “attraction”, “love”, “flirt” or “passion” ….

This way, you will learn to extend the meaning you associate to a card, or consider it at least under another angle …

Another way to really know your deck is to name one detail of the card when you flip it over : is there a fish, a curtain, a window, a tree on the picture ? Are people walking, or sitting, laying on the ground or dancing ?

When you first have your deck it is also very interesting to note in a diary what is your most and least favorite card, before you read the meaning of it in a book. Now, your most favorite card may not be the one you associate yourself with. I mean you might like the 2 of Cups for example but feel more like the Ace of Swords. Think about the differences between those 2 cards, and also about the common point they may share.

A 3 cards draw is a nice way to begin : shuffle the whole deck, cut the deck in 2, put it back together and lay them on the table, pick 3 cards. What are these cards telling you, do you like them, do you relate to them at the present, or do they remind you of a past event in your life ?

Reading about a relationship

Here is a reading I did for Kate, with the analysis, hope some will find it informative.

Strength4 of cups3 of cups reversed10 of cups7 of pentacles reversedace of swords reversed9 of wands

Kate has been in a difficult relationship for a long time, after breaking up she has been deeply affected by the aftermath and wants to know if it is over with her problem regarding her ex and is now able to move forward with her life.

Spread used : the horseshoe spread
Question : Is it finished with my past relationship ?
the past : Strenght
the present : 4 of Cups
the near future : 3 of Cups (Reversed)
the surrounding energy : 10 of Cups
attitude : 7 of Pentacles (Reversed)
outcome : Ace of Swords (Reversed)
answer : 9 of Wands

If you are familiar with tarot cards, try to come up with your own analysis of the case and then read below.

Reading

In the past, the card “Strength” testify that Kate had to display courage and rely on inner strenght. It took her real courage to get up in the morning and carry on with her activities. Self discipline is the important keyword when this card shows up.

The card Strenght shows you’ve been investing a lot of energy to get the control of your life back, and it’s not been easy. The focus of her attention at that time was to not let any destructive behavior from her ex to affect her anymore.

As a result, the present situation (4 of cups ) shows she needs to take a step back to get in touch of her inner self. Meditation and focus will help her to visualize the options available at the moment. The strenght is a very active card and the 4 of Cups is a passive card. One may say that the fight has been tough one. She is now asking herself “is that all there is ?”.

She also might be bored with the whole process. All the while she was fighting, she didn’t realise how deeply affected she truly was, as there was not time for such introspection. Now that things have been quieter, she just start to acknowledge the price she had to pay. She needs to re-connect with herself. The 4 of Cups shows one cup which is handed to you, and 3 Cups which stand in front of you : the one offered represent your inner peace and the 3 others represents the outer fulfillment. The period represented by the Strenght might not have been the funniest of her life, but she got a deeper understanding of what she no longer wanted in her life and how to get rid of it. The 4 of Cups is there because now that she is starting another cycle, yet this cycle doesn’t offer much at the moment, she thinks life is dull. She should now search answers for questions like “Am I fulfilled ?”, if no, “What could make me feel better ?” ,”How can I help me at this point ?”, “What would make me happy to get up in the morning?”

The near future is the 3 of cups which is the celebration card but here the card is reversed. People around Kate are probably busy with their own life and goals, basically she doesn’t fit.At least, that’s how she feels. She is not part of that party celebration one may see in the upright 3 of cups. The reversed 3 of Cups may be the lack of support or communication with friends. or simply the fact that there is no place for fun at the moment. She need to rebuilt a sense of trust and intimacy. The need of someone with whom she may share her feelings and views is here strongly indicated.

The surrounding energy, 10 of Cups, depicts her loving family. They won’t let her down, and she may find a supportive attitude from them. Actually, she spends most of her free time with her close family.
Her attitude, the 7 of Pentacles, says that the lack of challenge is frustrating to her. The boredom expressed by the present card (4 of cups) is directly linked to her attitude. She needs to regain control of her life altogether. Financially and emotionnaly.

The outcome and the answer cards combined shows that she may still have news from her ex. the 9 of Wands tells her to remain watchful. This is a card which represent dwelling on the pain and the frustration of the past. Her ex might not be yet accepting the death of their relationship and might try to get in contact with her again, play mind games and such … Similar circumstances have occured before, so she will be able to handle it, and even though it might prevent her from being totally relieved, she has now the possibility to look out for new opportunities. Starting to pamper herself a little bit more would be nice. She needs something new and exciting to gain her interest. She needs to broaden her vision of life and see beyond the ongoing litigation. Her focus is constantly on that problem and she has to be pro-active. Only then, things won’t be stagnant and she’ll be able to move forward with her life. Right now, she is sending signals that say “Don’t approach !” . Her personnal struggles are making her estranged from people. And people are that way : who wants to approach someone who is always in her troubles? … She should be aware, even if it is not pleasant that she is projecting that kind of image. She must not be discouraged, she has the will to adress the problem. Developping herself as an individual will make her radiant and then, people will wish to get closer to her !

I’ll post the images of the cards afterwards … I get some troubles trying to upload them.
