Tarot de Marseille

Happy New Year 2011. I wish you all the best in the world, happiness, health, prosperity throughout the year.

In the next few weeks, I will probably post about the Tarot de Marseille since it is the tarot that I use the most, and that I have studied throughout the years. So, this means, readings will be posted, theory about the cards as well, lots of stuff on the way. I am definitely happy about this. I will also post readings done with the little Lenormand.

reading about love for K.

hi there,

I am back … it’s been a while. I just needed some time off from blogging, though I have been using cards a lot … and took a lot of notes … It was just one of this period during which I needed only the contact of paper/pen and nothing else 😀 I have been writing a couple of chapters, done quite a few readings. I didn’t expect to be away for so long though. But sometimes, the writing would take the whole evening so … time flew by. With no further do : here is below a case analysis for you to enjoy.

Here is a reading I did about love for a person (woman). I used the Morgan Greer deck and no reversal. She is single and is asking about what she can expect in the next future regarding relationships.

The situation (3 cards)

8 of pentacles / Queen of Cups / 5 of Cups

How the situation evolves (2 cards)

the Tower / the 10 of Swords

the Outcome (1 cards)

The 10 of Wands

the Queen of Cups is of course representing her with her hope for love. As this is the central card, it is standing strong and is important I feel for the “translation”. Right now though it seems all her dedication is in her work. That is indicated by the 8 of Pentacles. She’d be in a relationship, I would read this as her doing all her best in order to make this relationship work. As she is single it shows her putting all of her energy in her work and diligently so. She is keeping herself very busy. The 5 of Pentacles shows that she feels miserable and also might be a hint that she doesn’t feel like this is rewarding. Her effort are bigger than what she receives. She is good at covering it with the 8 of pentacles and the Queen of cups. The Queen is actually looking at the 8 of pentacles. And the character in the 8 pentacles is looking on his work. The Queen seems to ignore the card behind her. Well, maybe “ignore” is not the right word … She is actually presenting her face to the world as the Queen and is somewhat hiding the truth which is the 5 of pentacles. To me, it looks like she is good at putting things in perpective and not spend all of her time dwelling on what could have been and what should have been and so and so … At least not in public. Knowing her love life is a desert right now, she gives the priority to work. This is bordering on workaholism maybe, but it is better than crying all day long, and she has the opportunity to put some money on the side which could be useful in the future …

The Tower and the 10 of Swords are striking next to another. Not the prettiest sight ! But let’s remember that The tower is not always negative. Actually, one sometimes need a shock to come alive. (remember the needle thing through the heart in Pulp Fiction ? ). Well, who wants to go through that ? But if it is the only way to come back from the dead … one takes the option right ? The 10 of Swords is clearly the victim or someone who feels that way, defeated. So to me this looks like she is going to acknowledge her hurt in a very sudden way or she is going to go through a tough experience which is going to be painful. To the very least it is going to rock her foundation. I would advice her to enjoy some time out of her work, go out a little bit more, or she is going to end up in total burn out. In an health reading, that tower and the 10 of swords speaks of a surgery, a hospitalization. Also, some other issues were addressed here : the Tower also represents our ego and the 10 of Swords doesn’t look like a winner here right ? So the 2 of them, I feel here, are related to low self esteem. And that may actually be the energy around the situation : because she doesn’t feel right with herself, she doesn’t allow herself to open up to someone and only dedicate herself to work. My intuition tells me that THIS is spot on, THIS is the core problem and solution.

Okay, while the party is not around the corner with that combo. there is still something positive in every situation. The character in the 10 of Swords seems to be a person who is jumping out of the Tower card and who hit the ground after a long fall. So it can’t go further down from there. It is as down as can be. The positive ? The only way is up then !

The 10 of Wands shows that exactly. In a very realistic way: “No one said it was going to be easy”. The 10 of wands speaks of courage, not giving up, keep on keeping. Having heavy stuff to carry on. It doesn’t mean you are going to end up alone; but there is quite a way to go. Don’t loose your courage : and it is up to you to make that journey interesting. Everything you learn in the process, will make you wiser and more interesting too. The distance the character has to go, might imply that there might a geographic distance between her and the person she is going to be with. My intuition tell me so anyway.

So, let’s look at the 2 ten in this draw : 10 of Swords and 10 of Wands

The outcome shows the character who picked the swords out of his own body and only carries the lessons learned from the bad experience as wands . The Swords changed into Wands if you prefer. But not by sheer magic, only because the character from the 10 of swords got back on his feet and decided to walk again. It shows that we can take from very painful experience, and even if we suffer from it, we can take the lesson and move forward.
the last 3 cards seems to say : “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger …” (Honestly, I don’t know how many times I have been told about that one … I guess it is true, but when you are bleeding it is tough to take … )

well, I hope you enjoyed this little analysis of the reading. As you may notice, even if some cards are not speaking about total bliss I try to put a message that can be useful for the querent … I think there was a saying that said something like there is no problem only solutions …
Good to be back ^^

Daily reading N°3 about my trip to Paris, France

Hi there,

this is the third reading I did when I was in Paris.

After going to the Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, I went back at the hotel in order to drop all the little things I bought along the way. I also had to charge the battery of my camera. So, I took the opportunity to make another 5 cards draw to see about the rest of my day.

Here are the cards:

the clover 02the child 13the sun 31the letter 27the star 16

the clover, the child, the sun, the letter, the star

The second part of my day was a fun ride. Walked a lot again ! And I went to new places. Places I have never been to when I was in Paris, but that are actually quite famous. That is “le quartier Saint Germain”. I decided to go there by walk from one of the bridges, because I knew the views would be beautiful. At that time of the day, the sun was slowly going down offering myriads of colors. Honestly I felt like I was in one of those movies …

This is a picture I took on the bridge as the sun was going down, and the dark clouds were taking place in the sky. Quite dramatic. Unfortunately this picture doesn’t quite capture the color of that moment. I yet have to learn to master that camera a lot better !

This is something typical from Paris. The old bookstands. There are so many of them. You can find very old books there. Also, stamps, comics, posters, calendars …

I took a coffee at “Les Deux Magots” which is one of the famous places in Saint Germain. Le café de Flore is just a few walk steps away and is another famous place. Huysmans, Giraudoux, surrealist writers , Camus, Faulkner, Simone de Beauvoir … They all have been there on a regular basis …

I visited some bookstores in the streets nearby. Actually took a look at some novels, … After that I went back to the “Rue saint Honoré” and had a nice walk enjoying the city lights.

The Ritz’s entrance on the Place Vendome. A mythical hotel. I’d love to stay at that hotel someday.

And then, to finish the evening, the Champs Elysees again.

So, if I look at the cards in the draw :

the clover, the child : me enjoying new places in the city.( what I mean by new is “new to me” as I have never been there).

the sun, the letter, the star : related to the weather and time of the day. the sun was going down at the beginning of my walk and finished in the night. Also it is related to famous places (the sun and the star) . Places made famous by writers and intellectuals (the letter).

Hope you enjoyed the little trip

Daily draw : a city trip to Brussels, Belgium

Hi there,

tomorrow I am going to Brussels. From what I have seen on this website, there are many things to see and to do. I am trying as much as I can to break my dull routine of working like a machine non stop and then going home and reading or watching tv. There is more to life than just that, right ? Here are the cards I pulled for this day.

the heart 24the tower 19the key 33the bear 15the birds 12

the heart, the tower, the key, the bear, the birds

here is what I am getting from this draw : I am going to love (the heart) my trip to Brussels (the tower being a big city, a capital); this is certain (the key). I will spend some money there and/or eat something (the bear). Also I might enjoy a conversation, the liveliness of the place (the birds). I am wondering now if the heart means meeting someone there, someone tall (the tower) and with a beard (the bear) ? Someone who is going to be a key event for the day (the key) and enjoy a conversation with him (the birds) ? It looks like I am going to spend a very nice Sunday over there … Christmas shopping looks like fun with those cards … I will put the feedback as an update and add pictures of the places visited as well !

It has been fun ! Made a lot of pictures that I will post later on. I ate a lot of little things here and there as I was discovering the little stands/shops put up for Christmas. (the bear). I also bought a few things as Christmas presents. There was a concert on the Great Market Place that was quite trippy ! Lightning effects, change of colors on tubes place vertically on the ground. The colors were making patterns, changing through the flow of the music. And it was really something to watch/listen in the nighttime. I walked a lot and I am rather tired now. I didn’t meet anyone, it was a rather lonely day even though it was fun. apparently the Tower here just meant the capital, or the fact that I was lonesome. The Heart : the fact I enjoyed the day. The Key is here I think meant to be read with the two following cards. The Bear all the treats along the way : candies, roasted nuts, warm red wine … and finally the Birds : the concert on the Great Market Place. I will post the pictures I have made later on, I am too tired to open the editing program to save the pictures on a lighter format for download right now …

La boutique des Anges, Paris, France

Hi there,

the same day as I visited le Sacre Coeur, Montmartre and the quartier Pigalle with the Moulin Rouge; I went through the streets just discovering things as I went along. I must have been lucky. I found a little boutique selling just about anything you can think (and more) about angels. Statues, medals, earrings, postal cards, books posters … Even a little perfume called “the perfume of angels” … Name it and they have it. Here is a picture of the frontside of the boutique. I waited for about 10 minutes but there were always people coming in and out. Finally due to the fact that it was very cold and that I longed for a hot beverage, I took the picture you see below. I just blurred the people. I purchased some stuff inside. I asked if I could take a picture inside of the boutique; but the lady (very polite, smiling) was clearly embarrassed. She said they authorized one picture only. And she probably said that because I purchased many oracle decks about angels. So I just said ok then, and took no picture of the inside. (I will make another post about the decks I have purchased there).

At the end of the street, as I was seeking for a place to drink a huge hot coffee, I found out a very famous place again in Paris. La librairie des Abbesses. here is an article about it (in French though). Marie-Rose Guarniéri is the owner of the place and is also responsible for the Prix Wepler which is given every year in the Brasserie of the same name, place Clichy. She was in the shop as I entered to have a look; discussing with her staff about how to place certain books. I just can’t help entering places where you find books. Here I loved how the wooden floor was making noise under my boots as I was perusing the many novel’s titles within the bookshop. Aaaah, the smell of books.

I then took the metro and went to some more adventure within the city. I did a draw (with the lenormand cards) for the next part of my trip which will probably be the subject of the next post. Oh and I just love the design of those metro’s entrance. This is what I love about Paris, it is such a treat to the eyes. You just feel like humming along as you walk in the street, just as if you are in a movie or something.

Daily reading N°2 about Paris, France

HI there,

this is the second daily drawing about my little trip to Paris. Prior to the drawing, I already knew where I was going. So the house here should not be read as my home place, or the hotel room … because I definitely didn’t stay in !

the house 04the heart 24the anchor 35the whip 11the child 13

the house, the heart, the anchor, the whip, the child.

Again, I propose this as a little exercise to be edited later on with the answer.
What about that second day in Paris ? What do you think ?

*edited to add*

This is where I went in the morning : the Moulin Rouge … Quite mythical right ? just next to my hotel, it was a small walk.

The Moulin Rouge really well in the cards through the house+heart+anchor

see how the anchor evokes the 4 sides of the windmill ?
also the House and the Heart could evoke the Sacre Coeur, but … I guess the cross would have been there … the Whip is more like showing the “stimulating” aspect of this place of the city : the Moulin Rouge, Folies Pigalle, and the Erotic museum …

This is the Sacre Coeur : I went in and it is quite breathtaking. Pictures are not allowed inside though (which I understand). I bought some stuff such as a statue of the Virgin Mary for my father who is ill and so, she will protect him. At the top of the stair, you have one of the most beautiful sight !

this is the Manege just in front of the Sacre Coeur before you take the steps up.

and a mime just as you are about to take the steps heading to the Sacre Coeur. I took so many pictures of the place !

This is Montmartre with la Butte Montmartre as it is called, with painters …

I have had the typical lunch there chez Eugene : a Fish Soup ! Of course, it is filled with tourist, but still I loved it ! There are so many things to see there … I loved the atmosphere of it …

voila, see you for the next reading still about my little city trip to Paris
